Margaret A. Tarnow of DeWitt, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 8, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. She was born on July 23, 1929 in Kingston, Ontario Canada. She was a graduate of the Collegiate School and attended Metzler Business School before working for the Canadian Manufacturers Association in Toronto. She attended the Toronto Conservatory of Music at the University of Toronto and pursued a career in modeling for clothing designers and manufacturers. Inspired by her mother, she was a horticulturist at heart and shared her love of gardening and landscaping with people from all walks of life. Her father’s architectural career brought with it a lifetime interest in residential and interior design. She became a member of the Interior Design Society of America and built a loyal client following over the years at Dunk & Bright Furniture in Syracuse.
She was a member of the Colgate University Parents Association, Skidmore College Parents Association, the Orvilton Heights Association, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Temple Society of Concord and DeWitt Community Church.
Her husband, Peter Tarnow passed away in 1980; and sons Ronald and Douglas reside in Bellevue, WA.
Burial will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Temple Concord Section of Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse at 10:00 AM. Memorial Services will follow later at 6:00 PM at DeWitt Community Church in the Miller Commons Chapel.
