Alice Barnes Badore

Alice Barnes Badore, died peacefully on May 10, 2017 at The Nottingham. She was born on November 30, 1923 to Ada and Harry Wagner. She and her late husband Willard Barnes resided in Syracuse and Fayetteville for many years, spending summers on Ina Island in the Thousand Islands.

She was Past President of Eastern Ambulance. She was a volunteer at Crouse Hospital, served on the Auxiliary Board and was a buyer for their gift shop. She was active and volunteered with the Fayetteville Garden Show, SPCA, Harmony Circle, Everson Museum and the Red Cross. She and her sister-in-law, Helen Wagner modeled for the Post Standard Fashion show, along with her children for many years. She was an avid golfer, winning the Grandmother Tournament at OGCC, was a bowler and late life skier. She was a member of Onondaga Golf & Country Club, Cavalry Club and Dewitt Community Church. Alice and her energy was felt by all and her compassion for animals was passed on to her grandchildren.  She was famous for her many dinner parties. She enjoyed many years of traveling, boating on the St. Lawrence and spending time with her grandchildren.

Alice was predeceased by her husband’s, Willard Smith Barnes and Darrel Badore; and her daughter, Linda Barnes Yenawine.

She is survived by her son, Robert A. Barnes (Helene) of Fayetteville; son-in-law, Martin Yenawine of Wellesley Island; grandchildren, Tiffany Wareing  (Brad) of  Isla Mujeres, Mexico, Heather  Barnes of Chicago, Leslie Hale (Matt) and Robert Barnes (Erica) of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Barlow and Lior Wareing, Hadley and George Hale; and her niece,  Julie Konys (David) of Manlius.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Nottingham for their kind, loving care that was given to Alice. She loved you all and you made a difference in her life.

Services are private and arranged by Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
