Charles G. Humpleby, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Born on February 14, 1936 in Syracuse, son of the late John G. and Ruth (McKinley) Humpleby, Chuck was a graduate of Fayetteville Manlius High School, The Manlius School, and Hillsdale College. While at Hillsdale, he was President of his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega. An excellent high school athlete, he went on to coach several sports, was a teacher and guidance counselor in the Fayetteville Manlius and East Syracuse Minoa School Districts. Fifty years ago, he changed careers and became a Real Estate Broker and President of DeWitt Real Estate Inc. He was devoted to his family, his profession and his love of sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia; son, Mark, of Charleston, SC; son, Craig, of Syracuse; daughter, Tracy (James) Zappola, of DeWitt; grandson, Dominic Zappola; brother, Richard (Nancy) Humpleby of Jamesville; three nieces; and an extended family of McKinley and Humpleby cousins.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20 at 9 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee Street, DeWitt. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, will follow. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 19 at Holy Cross Church.
