Pauline D. Filsinger, 98, of Onondaga Hill, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017.
Pauline was born June 20, 1919 in Long Pond, ME, the daughter of Peter and Mary Dallaire. She was raised in Thendara, NY and moved to Syracuse in 1938 where she went on to graduate from C.C.B.I. Mrs. Filsinger was a member of Bellevue Heights United Methodist Church and was an active contributor to the Altar Guild. She enjoyed being a member of The Home Garden Club of Syracuse as well as a nationally accredited horticultural Judge. Throughout her accomplishments of horticultural design, she won multiple awards, including a 2nd place finish as recent as last week in the Artistic Design Division at The New York State Fair. She was also a volunteer at Community General Hospital for many years.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Jan) Filsinger of Onondaga Hill; two grandsons, Michael (Erin) Filsinger of Fort Mill, SC and Jeffrey (Samantha) Filsinger of Richmond, VA; three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Emma and Morgan; three step grandchildren; Tonya Pidkaminy, Ashley Evans and Ryan Evans; three step great-grandchildren, Emily, Natalie and Cayden; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Filsinger in 1995; two young children; three sisters; and one brother.
Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 am at Bellevue Heights United Methodist Church, 2112 S. Geddes Street, Syracuse. Interment will be in Oakwood Morningside Cemetery.
