Eleanor Eagan Moloney, 93, of DeWitt and Cazenovia, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her home.
She was born July 25, 1924, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Leo T. and Eleanor Demong Eagan. Eleanor attended the Convent School and received her BA degree from Georgian Court College in New Jersey. In 1950, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Syracuse, she married William J. Moloney. He passed away on October 23, 1979. After raising her family, she became associated with the family business, Eagan Real Estate.
She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church, served on the Council of Advisors for St. Joseph’s Hospital and was a member of the Board for the Syracuse Opera.
Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family, summering on Cazenovia Lake, playing golf and downhill skiing.
She is survived by three daughters, Eleanor M. Byrne of Cazenovia, Mary M. (Doug) Klepper of Manlius and Theresa M. (Dave) Schafran of Fayetteville; ten grandchildren, Mary Fletcher, Christine Byrne, Katherine Byrne, James Byrne, Laura Sullivan, Brian Klepper, Meghan Vagnone, Mary Elizabeth Klepper, Matthew Klepper and William Schafran; one great grandson, Andrew Byrne; her sister-in-law, Doris Eagan; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Joey Byrne; her brother, L. William Eagan; and her two sisters, Patricia E. Conan and Mary Martha Eagan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4 at 9 am at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee Street, DeWitt. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of the Mass.
