William "Bill" H. Arbogast, 96, of Fayetteville, died of natural causes and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He died peacefully, surrounded by his adoring family. Born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Bill graduated from Bucknell University where he played soccer and belonged to Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After college, he served in the United States Navy, where he worked as a Communications Director in both the Atlantic and Pacific during World War II. Upon discharge he began his career in sales, working for companies such as H. Kramer Company of Chicago and Harry Osborne Building Supplies. Late in his career, he was a real estate broker for Hunt Real Estate alongside his wife, Jean.
During their marriage of over 72 years, they were a beautiful example to family, friends and the community. They most enjoyed spending time with their couples’ Bible study and taking long walks on the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey. They were members at both DeWitt Community Church and Eastern Hills Bible Church in Manlius. When not working, Bill could be found delivering food to the elderly for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Don Stukey of Fayetteville; his son, John Arbogast of Fayetteville; grandson, Andy Swanda of Minneapolis, MN; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16 at DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to DeWitt Community Church.
Arrangements are with Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
