Donald F. Conan, Jr.

Donald F. Conan, Jr., 84, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his home, with his family by his side.

He was born April 11, 1933, in Syracuse, the son of the late Donald F., Sr. and Mary Henneberry Conan.  He received his business certificate from Central City Business Institute and was a Sergeant with the US Army during the Korean War.  He was employed with Oberdorfer Foundries for over thirty years as a Sales Manager.  Served as an altar boy at Immaculate Conception in Pompey, was a parishioner of Most Holy Rosary Parish and was a member of the Pompey Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Pompey Country Club, and American Legion, he was also the third-baseman for the Pompey Wildcats Baseball Team.

Donald was a family man first and foremost, and enjoyed coaching his sons in basketball at Our Lady of Lourdes, and baseball at South Side Little League.  He would enjoy and look forward to attending his grandchildren’s music, entertainment and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazel Mahshie Conan; four children, Jolene (Norm) Marlow of Ocala, FL, Donald F. Conan, III of Syracuse, James (Kate) Conan of Skaneateles and Mark (Elizabeth) Conan of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren, Justin (Stacey) Marlow, Dima Jo, Donald, IV, Ashton, Emme, Cash and Grace Conan; two sisters, Elizabeth Bullion of DeWitt and Mary Helen (Anthony) Palladino of Pompey; a sister-in-law, Maryanne Conan of Aiken, SC; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a grandson, James Marlow; a sister, Sally Weaver; and a brother, Edward Conan. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the convenience of the family from Most Holy Rosary Parish.  Spring interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Pompey.
