Obituary of Jeanne Sullivan
Jeanne Sullivan, 86, of North Chatham, MA, former long-time resident of Fayetteville, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2017.
Born October 7, 1930 and raised in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late James V. and Madeline Piazza Leddy. She spent her summers vacationing with family in Lake Mohawk, NJ. Jeanne was a 1951 graduate of the College of New Rochelle and worked for Bell Labs as an engineer until her marriage to the late James M. Sullivan Jr in 1959. Jeanne and Jim moved to Fayetteville, NY in 1963, where they raised their four daughters.
Jeanne was an avid gardener and was a long-standing member of the Home Garden Club of Syracuse, NY. She enjoyed vacations with her family to the beaches on Cape Cod, MA and Nags Head, NC for many years. Jeanne was an active member of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt, NY, where she truly enjoyed volunteering her time to help others.
Jeanne is survived by her sister, Kathleen Kane (Farrell Kane) of North Eastham, MA; daughters Mary Beth Fagerholm (Carl Fagerholm) of Newtown, CT; Eileen Liberti (William Liberti) of Falls Church, VA, Maureen Sullivan, of Boston, MA and Anne Sullivan, also of Boston, MA. Five grandchildren survive her: Carolyn, Abigail, Annika and Peter Fagerholm of Newtown, CT; and Madeline Liberti of Falls Church, VA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 10 am at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt, NY.
The family requests that donations (in lieu of flowers) in memory of Jeanne be made to the Holy Cross Church Altar Rosary Society, 4112 East Genesee St, DeWitt, NY 13214.
