Obituary of Joseph Akl
Joseph Salim Akl was welcomed home on March 4, 2017. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon and emigrated to the United States 17 years ago where he began life anew raising his beloved grandchildren. He found great joy in his garden, watching his grandchildren play sports and a kitchen full of family enjoying his wonderful cooking. His laugh was infectious and he was Jido to all the children of the family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lina; brothers, Elie and Albert; sister, Zariefeh Awad; and companion, Afifeh Tadros. Joseph is survived by his son, Wahid (Ronda) Akl; daughters, Patricia (Johnny) El Saddik and Pascale (Yousef) Yammine; grandchildren, Patrick, Cedrik, Lina, Nabil, Zeina, Josef, Giovanni and Christa; sister, Nour Almaz; brother, Fouad Akl; companion, Alice Bell; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church Monday, March 6, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm. Trisagion Service will be at 6:30 pm. Funeral service will be at the church Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
