Obituary of Miriam Alsever

Miriam (Decker) Alsever, 98, passed away on April 3, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Mrs. Alsever grew up in Ridgewood, NJ. She graduated from Syracuse University, was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, and Eta Pi Upsilon Senior Women’s Honorary. She was an active member of Park Central Presbyterian Church, an accomplished violinist, and life-long learner with a wonderful sense of humor.

She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. William D. Alsever whom she married in

1941 in Ridgewood.

Surviving are her daughters, Ann (Richard) Maki of Sterling, MA, and Alice

Alsever of Morrisville, NY; 2 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew.

The family wishes to acknowledge all of the staff at the Nottingham who cared so well for her.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fairchild and Meech Dewitt Chapel with private burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Plans for a family gathering are incomplete at this time.
