Nancy Blessed Nevin, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Cottages at Garden Grove. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 2:00 pm at University United Methodist Church, 324 University Avenue, Syracuse. Private interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Nancy was born to Elizabeth H. and Charles E. Blessed in Syracuse. She received her BA and MS degrees from Syracuse University and became a teacher. She taught Social Studies at Nottingham High School for over 20 years where she touched the lives of so many students.
Nancy was an active member of University United Methodist Church and the former First Presbyterian Church United. She volunteered at the food pantry. Nancy was a member of the Tri Delta Fraternity. Nancy particularly loved gardening, reading and her cats.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Peter) Kelley of Longwood, FL; her son, Dr. Philip (Katherine) Nevin of Canandaigua; three grandchildren, Michelle (Alexander) Saxby of Fort Hood, TX, Timothy Nevin of Millburn, NJ and Christina Nevin of Roswell, GA; and three great grandchildren Daniel, Michael and Elizabeth Saxby. She is predeceased by her son, Keith Nevin.
