Donald G. DeLong, 88, of LaFayette, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Van Duyn.
Born February 24, 1931, he served his country from 1947-1957, first in the US Coast Guard, then with the US Marines and was honorably discharged from the US Army. For 45 years, he was a Supervisor with the Carrier Corp. After retirement, he worked as a Dispatcher at Landstar Ranger Transport and drove with Loomis Armored US. He was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club, Elks Lodge #1104 B.P.O.E and the Cranberry Lake Hunting Lodge.
Don enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sandy Lewicki DeLong; his step daughter, Michelle (Jim) Dimperio of Minoa; two granddaughters, Lillian and Brooke; his sister-in-law, Bobbie (Rusty) Mohorter of Kirkville; two nieces, Cindy and Kathy; and two nephews, Mark and Larry. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ethel; two brothers, Eddie and Bucky; and his sister, Catherine Childs.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Saturday at 1 pm at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt, with Father Kenneth Kirkman officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 am – 1 pm, prior to the service. Interment will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
