Samuel Earl Bright, 92 of Fayetteville, NY, passed away on September 26, 2019 at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing in Chittenango NY.
Sam was born in Knox, PA on November 4, 1926 to Catherine Mercer Bright and Earl Jessie Bright. He spent all his youth in Knox, PA and attended White Memorial School. Sam joined the Navy on August 4, 1944 and attended Torpedo School at Great Lakes Navy base in Chicago. He served as a torpedo man in both WWII and the Korean War. Sam was honorably discharged on April 12, 1952 and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Medal, and a Victory Medal. Sam met his future wife on a blind date prior to his second deployment in the Navy. He married Cecilia Jane Snyder of Clarion, PA on May 25, 1952.
Sam worked for Sears Roebuck and Company for 36 years until his retirement on January 15, 1989. He served in several capacities at Sears and worked as a credit central manager for 19 years before his retirement. Sam loved golf, Syracuse sports, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and Ceil loved to travel and Sam always made a point of visiting his family every year over the holidays.
Sam is preceded in death by his wife Cecilia; his parents, Catherine and Earl Bright; and a sister, Lois Bright Amsler.
He is survived by his four children, Kevin (Sabrina), Randall (Elayne), Tracey (Philip) Bousquet, and Patrick (Michelle); six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing in Chittenango for the love and care of Sam during his final days.

A private graveside service will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in DeWitt. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
