Clorinda Morris passed away in her sleep Monday morning, September 30, 2019 the day after her 102nd birthday. She enjoyed her final birthday celebration surrounded by her children and grandchildren who traveled from around the country to be with her. She was an avid bridge player, who enjoyed the company of her beloved bridge partners and had the pleasure to play with them one last time on Friday.
Born in Plymouth, Wisconsin on September 29th, 1917, Clo would attend Lakeland College in Wisconsin and then the Oberlin Conservatory School of Music in Ohio. After a few years of teaching music in the Chicago City School District, she would pursue her Master’s Degree in music and voice at Syracuse University. It was at SU, where she met the love of her life, Rick Morris. They were married in New York City in 1954. They raised their family in Rochester, N.Y., and later moved to Cazenovia, N.Y. to start an automobile business. Clo and Rick returned to Syracuse, N.Y., where she has made many friends in the bridge community and loved playing an active role with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clo is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Rick Morris. Clo is survived by her daughter, Mary Catan of Atlanta, GA; son, Kevin Morris of Syracuse, NY; son, Rick Morris, Jr. of Jamesville, NY; granddaughters, Christie Catan and Catherine Catan, and grandson, Danny Catan of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters, LeeAnn Galarza of Smithtown, NY and Sophia Morris of Syracuse, NY, and grandsons, Marcus and Kevin Morris Jr. of Syracuse, NY; and great grandchildren, Gianna, Christian and Vincent Galarza of Smithtown, NY.
The music will always play on for those willing to listen, just as they did for those on Maple Street some years ago. Clo was passionate about lawmakers who make the world a kinder place.
