Shirley T. Lange, 95, of Jamesville, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family, on the evening of December 27, 2019 in her home. A private memorial service will be held in the spring to celebrate her life. Shirley Agnes Trumpold Lange was born in Lawrence, MA on October 26, 1924, daughter of the late Carl and Mabel (Fischer) Trumpold. She is predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Trumpold (W.Lawson) Batty; and her husband, Emil Lange, Jr. Shirley graduated from Edward F. Searles High School, Methuen, MA and Westbrook College in Portland, ME. It was at Westbrook where she found her love for the news and current events, and later worked as a reporter on local newspapers. Her interest in journalism was lifelong and she was known for her passionate opinions and spirited discussions on the topics of the day. It was also little known that she was one of the first stewardesses on American Airlines before she married and started a family. Shirley was a member of the Federation of Women’s Clubs, Syracuse Federation Formers and the Corinthian Foundation. She did volunteer work at several local organizations and enjoyed spending time at Nottingham Knolls (now Drumlins) Golf Club. She is survived by her son, Stephen E. Lange (Mary Dale) Lange of LaFayette, NY; daughter, Carlene (Carlie) L. Dugan of Marblehead, MA; three grandchildren, Patrick, Dawn and Chad; two great grandchildren, Amanda and Cody and a third (baby girl) on the way; three nephews and several cousins.
