Mary Grace (Treglia) Sullivan, died peacefully in her home at the age of 84 on July 4, 2021. Her family was at her side as she ended her 15 year fight against Parkinson’s Disease. Mary was born on January 31, 1937 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Nicola Treglia and Maria Grazia (Romano) Treglia. She was a graduate of Jamesville High School (1954), LeMoyne College (BS), and Syracuse University (MS). She was a dedicated educator who taught first grade in the Syracuse School District for 35 years at Elmwood Elementary School. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Sullivan; her parents; her brother, Guy Treglia; and her dear friend, Albert Valerino. She is survived by her children, Dr. Raymond (Norine) Sullivan, Mary Anne Sullivan (Ray Grymski) and Janet (Pete) Kirkgasser; and by her grandchildren, Brian, Alex, Patrick, and Caitlin Sullivan, Ariana Grymski, and Christina and Katherine Kirkgasser. The family is grateful for the compassion and attentiveness from Mary’s caregivers over the past seven years. Mary had a warm personality and was a friend to everyone she met. She was a devout Catholic who enjoyed dancing, cards, travel, her dog Sammy and especially her family. She will be greatly missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 10 at 10 am at St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 9-10 am at the church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. In memory of Mary, her family requests donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
