Memorial Service will be held in the Spring of 2017 at Pebble Hill Presyterian Church, DeWitt, New York
Obituary of Donna Pair
Donna J. Pair, 82, of Jamesville, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 after a brief illness. A native of Urbana, IL, she had lived in the Syracuse area since 1958. Donna graduated from the University of Toledo, and after a brief career as a medical technician, devoted herself to her family and community.
Donna was a woman of many talents. Bright and energetic, she devoted her time to a number of organizations. An accomplished floral designer and gardener, she participated not only in her local garden club but as a national floral judge and instructor. She served in many positions within the Federated Garden Clubs of New York, including as their state president. Donna was a passionate tennis player, and passed that passion on to her children and grandchildren. She was a professional tennis official, and played competitive tennis herself until two years ago, when an injury sidelined her. A 50+ year season ticket holder, Donna was a rabid SU basketball and football fan, and served as president of Orange Plus. Donna was devoted to her church, Pebble Hill Presbyterian, and chaired many committees in her tenure there. Seemingly tireless, you could always count on Donna to make sure that things just got done. A fisherwoman of some note, she often reeled in the biggest fish, and as recently as this past summer outdid the whole family in the number of fish caught on the 45th annual Fernleigh, Ontario fishing vacation.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Don Pair; and sons, Donald (Tracy) Pair and David (Ute) Pair. She is also survived by grandchildren, Taylor Pair, Morgan Pair and Julian Pair.
A memorial service befitting a lifelong gardener will be held in the spring at Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church in Dewitt, NY. Contributions honoring Donna’s life and accomplishments can be made to the Scholarship Fund of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, 21A Brookedge, Guilderland, NY 12084-9110.
