Obituary of Peter M. Luber

Peter M. Luber, 99 passed away peacefully at his home at the Cunningham on February 16, 2014. Born July 26, 1914 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of George and Emily Luber. Peter married, Mary Jane Zunner on September 16, 1933. They were lifelong residents of Buffalo where Peter was a compositor for 42 years at the Greater Buffalo Press and then at the Buffalo Evening News. They retired to Florida in 1974 where they enjoyed their sail boat and the Gulf of Mexico. They were members of the Western New York Club, the Cape Coral Sailing Club and the German Club. Peter was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Cape Coral and a member of the Community Service Arm of the Cape Coral Yacht Club. Peter and Mary moved to the Nottingham in Syracuse in 1992 to be closer to their family. Peter was predeceased by his wife of 78 years in 2012. He is survived by his sons, Ray Luber of Fayetteville, Robert (Diana) of Camillus, and David (Karen) of Camillus; and daughter Diane (Thad) Krupka of San Antonio, Texas; as well as 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Friends may call 4 to 7 pm Thursday February 20, at the Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd. E.,DeWitt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Friday, February 21, at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. Interment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
