Obituary of Robert K. Egan
Robert K. “Bob” Egan, 84, of DeWitt, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at Loretto, with his family by his side.
He was born April 24, 1934, in Syracuse, the son of the late Robert J. and Anna King Egan. He was a graduate of the Cathedral Catholic Academy High School and received his BA degree from Le Moyne College. He was a veteran with the US Air Force National Guard. On October 1, 1960, he married Catherine J. Maley. She passed away May 13, 2009. For many years, Mr. Egan worked in energy sales for Hanlon-Scanlon in East Syracuse. He was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt and served on the funeral committee.
Proud of his Irish heritage, Bob was a big fan of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. He was also an avid Syracuse and Yankees sports enthusiast.
Bob is survived by three children, Judy Burrer of DeWitt, John J. (Madalyn) Egan of Delaware County, PA and Charles Egan of East Syracuse; four grandchildren, Jeremy Burrer, Nicole Burrer, Rachel Burrer and Liam Egan; one great grandson, Wyatt Burrer; one brother, Thomas (Sheila) Egan of Colorado Springs, CO; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 am at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 pm at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt.
