Obituary of Joseph Steil
Joseph L. Steil, 85, of Manlius, passed away Tuesday. He was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, where he lived with his parents, Joseph and Sophie. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1952 until 1956, during the Korean War. After marrying his wife, Margie, they lived on Long Island until moving to upstate New York, where he was employed with Miller Brewing Co. in Fulton for many years. He was well loved and respected in the community, where many referred to him as the “Mayor”, due to his outgoing nature. Joe enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and excelled at drawing and painting. Most of all, he loved being a partner-in-crime in all things with his wife of 53 years, Margie.
