Obituary of E. Kenneth Leins

E. Kenneth “Ken” Leins, 92, of DeWitt, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home.

Born March 31, 1926, in Teaneck, NJ, he was the son of the late Ernest and Marion Eckhardt Leins.  He was a US Army veteran of WW II and received his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University.   On July 14, 1951, in Syracuse, he married Anne O’Connor.  She passed away August 28, 2010. 

Ken was a Chemical Engineer with Allied Chemical in Syracuse, Baton Rouge, LA, San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA and lastly at headquarters in Morristown, NJ.  After his retirement from Allied Chemical, he returned to Syracuse and co-owned Benbow Inc., a chemical packaging company. 

Ken was an avid golfer who belonged to the Calvary Club for many years.  He also belonged to many professional organizations. 

He is survived by four children, Patricia (Thomas) Raleigh of Long Valley, NJ, Kenneth (Pam) Leins of Oak Hill, VA, Stephen (Mary) Leins of Blackwood, NJ and Susan Paguia of Long Valley, NJ; seven grandchildren, Lisa Bobich, Thomas Raleigh, Christopher Leins, Sarah Leins, Danielle Leins, Katie Leins and Madeline Paguia; six great-grandchildren; a nephew, Robert Yetter; and a niece, Lynne Demarais. Ken was predeceased by a sister, Muriel Yetter.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 am at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt, with Rev. John Kurgan officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.  A calling hour will be held Friday from 10-11 am, prior to services. 

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider the American Cancer Society in his memory.
