Obituary-Margaret (Peg) McMillan

Margaret (Peg) McMillan of Dewitt died Thursday evening April 10th at St Joseph’s Hospital.

Mrs. McMillan was born on August 15th, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA., a daughter of Francis J.McDevitt and Margaret Woolbert McDevitt-Gwin She grew up in Teaneck, NJ.She graduated from Teaneck High School in 1944 and graduated from Englewood Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 having served in the US Cadet Nurse Corps at the end of the Second World War.

She worked as a registered nurse at Community General Hospital for over 30 years. Mrs. McMillan was an active member of Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church. She was active locally over the years with PTA, as a Cub Scout Den Mother, with Meals on Wheels, a bridge group, playing tennis at Drumlins three times a week until she was 85, and in the service organization PTO.She was also active in the Englewood(NJ) Hospital Alumni Association

Mrs. McMillan had lived in Dewitt since 1973 and previously lived in Harrisburg, PA; Kingston, NY; DeWitt; Dix Hills, LI, NY; and Bay Village, OH.

She is predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Robert McMillan in 1991 and a son, Robert Douglas.

Surviving are two sons Bruce of New York City, Alan (Kateri) of Athens, Ohio and two grandsons, Robert and Bryan of Athens, Ohio, and a sister-in law, Carol McMillan of Storrs, Connecticut along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m on Saturday May 10th at Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church, 5299 Jamesville Rd in DeWitt.

The family will receive friends in the church after the services.

Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church, 5299 Jamesville Rd, DeWitt, NY 13214 and the Ronald McDonald House
