Obituary of Bobby L. Hall

Bobby L. Hall, 86, of Fayetteville, New York died March 2, 2019.  He was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the son of Lewis and Ruth Hall. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Mr. Hall served many agriculture organizations in leadership roles.  His career in the dairy industry spanned over 50 years.  His lasting impact extended to countless people whom he inspired and mentored.

Bob dedicated the majority of his career to serving as the CEO of multiple New York-based cooperatives, beginning with O-AT-KA Milk Products Cooperative (Batavia) in the mid-1960's, followed by almost 10 years as CEO of Dairylea Cooperative Inc. (Syracuse), and capped by over 20 years as CEO of Upstate Niagara Cooperative Inc. (Buffalo) and its affiliate O-AT-KA. He also served on the Board of Directors of Great Lakes Cheese.

In addition, Bob served on several industry boards, including the National Milk Producers Federation, the American Dairy Products Institute, and the American Butter Institute.

Bob was well respected for his honesty, his integrity, and his vision for the dairy industry, receiving many awards.  In 2006, he was nominated by his peers and received the ADPI Award of Merit, bestowed upon individuals who make a lasting contribution to the American dairy products industry.  In 2011, Bob received Upstate’s highest award, the President's Award for Lifetime Achievement, recognizing Bob for his career of service and success.

Bob served in community positions, including as President of the Rotary Club of Batavia New York.  Bob was a long-time member of the DeWitt Community Church.

He served in the Army and Reserves and was discharged in 1964 as a Reserve Commissioned Officer, grade of Captain.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Hall; their son, Robert Hall, and his wife Shannon; and many very dear friends.

His funeral and celebration of life will be held at the DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Boulevard East, DeWitt on Friday, March 15, 2019.  A calling hour will begin at 10:00 AM, with the service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in DeWitt Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, or DeWitt Community Church.

Arrangements are with Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
