Obituary of Robert Thomas Thurston
Robert Thomas Thurston , 91 was born in 1923 in Lorain, Ohio, died Wednesday.
He was a freshman at RIP when Pearl Harbor changed his future, The Navy V-12 program sent him to Annapolis as a new Ensign. He was sent to the U.S.S. Porterfield as Chief Engineer After the war he returned to RIP and then on to MIT for an advanced degree.
He was married to Janice Morgan of Utica in June of 1948. Besides his wife he is survived by a son: Jeffrey ( Ellie) of Santa Fe, New Mexico and a daughter; Susan ( Ron) Morris of Saratoga Springs, NY and grandchildren, Kimberly and Christopher Morris.
Robert retired from Cleveland Tramrail in 1987, he continued to enjoy his other interests, especially, skiing, singing, sailing and traveling.
He built and enjoyed his camp on Cranberry Lake for 50 years. Bob and his wife were members of DeWitt Community Church for 65 years. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt.
