Obituary of Francis S. Hanyak

Francis S. “Fran” Hanyak, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Onondaga Center in Minoa, with his wife, Sandy by his side. 

Born July 6, 1937, in Syracuse, he was the son of Frank and Matilda Hanyak.  For generations, he, along with his father and brothers owned and operated The 7up Bottling Company in Syracuse.  Fran enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, travelling and his weekly poker games with his four best friends. 

Surviving are his wife, Sandra J. “Sandy” Baum Hanyak; four children, Lorraine (Larry) Feher of Aspen, CO, Kevin (Celeste) Hanyak of New Bern, NC, Tracy (Dennis) Barquinero of Ludlow, VT and Frank Hanyak of Fayetteville; his granddaughter, Kathryn; his grandson, Jacob; five siblings, Robert (Jeanine) Hanyak of NC, Thomas (Carol) Hanyak of Liverpool, Raymond (Geraldine) Hanyak of FL, James (Janet) Hanyak of FL and Patricia (Robert) Crowe of Liverpool; his brothers-in-law, Warren (Patricia) Baum of Liverpool and  Carl Banick of FL; his sister-in-law, Jean Hanyak of Syracuse; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Joseph Hanyak; and his sister, Marie Banick. 

Calling hours will take place on Monday, August 5 from 9:00-10:00am at Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville to be followed directly at 10:00am with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
