Obituary of Veronica A. Ellithorpe

Veronica (Ronnie) Ellithorpe, born December 29, 1939 in Malone, NY, passed away at home with her family by her side on January 15, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Ellithorpe; daughter, Sarah Ellithorpe; and son, Daniel Ellithorpe (Kimberly); siblings, Edward LaFave and Mary Kaczmarek; and grandsons, Jakob and Justin Ellithorpe and Henry and Jonah Buff. Ronnie is predeceased by her parents, Emily and Francis LaFave; her twin brother, Vernon; and brothers, Alfred and Jack LaFave. She is also predeceased by her close childhood friend, Marilyn Zasada; and son in law, Peter Buff. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy in Malone, NY and graduated from Plattsburgh State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She went on to teach in elementary school and later worked for Onondaga County social work department. Ronnie enjoyed and was artfully skilled in cooking delicious meals and providing a loving home for her family. She was an avid gardener and anxiously awaited Spring to come in Syracuse so she could get into her garden. She went to the gym weekly and attended exercise class with her friends. She could do a better plank than all four of her grandsons! She never missed a SU game and everyone enjoyed her sense of humor. Private services will be held at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt, with Rev. Matthew Rawson officiating. There are no calling hours.
