Obituary of Sally Knodel Heidrich

Sally Knodel Heidrich, of North Creek, New York, died March 9, 2020, at the age of 91. Sally was born October 28, 1928 in Syracuse, New York, daughter of Adolf and Harriet Knodel. Sally attended Syracuse schools, including Syracuse University, College of Art, where she excelled and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. After marrying William (Bill) Heidrich, they moved to Rome, New York, where she raised three children and taught art in the Rome schools. On weekends the family would downhill ski at Gore Mountain. They stayed at their North Creek chalet, where Bill and Sally ultimately retired. They devoted many hours to community activities. She helped to develop the Historical Museum and the Adirondack Train Museum, as well as many art shows. Her enthusiasm and cheerful attitude will be missed. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bill Heidrich; sister, Pat Smarzo; and brother, Dick Knodel. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Haylor; two sons, Peter (Nancy) and Chris Heidrich; a daughter, Kimberly Rosario; three grandchildren, Morgan and Lyle Heidrich, and Daron Eccles; plus many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Sally’s life will be held at a later date.
