Obituary of Bernard G. Hess

Bernard Glenford Hess, 93, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing. Born September 11, 1926, in Liverpool, he was the son of Glenford and Evelyn Scolivile Hess and was a graduate of Liverpool High School. Mr. Hess proudly served his country in the US Navy during WW II and the Korean War. For many years he was an engineering technician for General Electric. He later owned and operated his own painting business prior to working as the painting supervisor at Hutchings Psychiatric Center. He was a member and Past Master of Fayetteville Central City Lodge #305 F & AM, 32nd degree member of the Consistory Valley of Syracuse, was a member of the Tigris Temple Shrine, Mattydale Post #3146 VFW and DeWitt Community Church. Bernard enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Flegal Hess; three children, Dean Hess of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Brian Hess of DeWitt and Elaine Kavorinos of DeWitt; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Phillip, Ian and Jessie; and one great grandchild, Emily. He was predeceased by a sister, Bernice. Per his wishes there will be no services. Interment will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. In memory of Mr. Hess, kindly consider the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Arrangements are with Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
