Michael Uehara

Obituary of Michael H. Uehara

Michael H. Uehara, of Syracuse, died January 8, 2021 at Loretto Health & Rehabilitation. Michael was born March 2, 1955 in Japan. He lived in Binghamton and then moved to Syracuse. Michael was known to everyone at Loretto, he was always attending a program, socializing in the front lobby, or practicing his piano with Loretto’s organist Dee. He had an extensive music background. He loved composers like Beethoven, Bach, and Tchaikovsky. Michael played the violin with the Central MA Symphony Orchestra and Utica Symphony Orchestra. Michael’s faith life was very important to him, he was baptized at Loretto and loved attending Mass. Besides music Michael enjoyed nature, history, word games, bingo and learning something new. At one time he also liked playing chess. Michael outlived his family, though he had several good friends that remained in touch with him throughout the years. Michael was outgoing, and liked to be busy. Much appreciation goes to the 13th floor staff for their tireless and devoted care; the team of recreation therapists who enriched Michael's days with music and fun; Michael’s dear friend Dee who introduced music back into his life; and several dear friends that continued to visit regularly. Michael will be missed dearly. Services will be private. Arrangements are with Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
