Obituary of Anthony J. Almanzi

Anthony J. “Tony” Almanzi, 61, of DeWitt, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, with his family by his side, after a long illness. He was born January 10, 1960, in Syracuse, the son of the late John and Martha Iannuzzi Almanzi. For many years, Tony was a Countertop Fabricator and Installer with Quality Countertops in Syracuse. Tony enjoyed camping, nature, yardwork, fishing and feeding the birds. His favorite places to visit were Matunuck, RI and NASCAR races at Watkins Glen. He is survived by his wife of over 31 years, the former Jacqueline “Jackie” Snyder; two sons, Corey (Kasey) Almanzi of Cicero and Nicholas Almanzi of DeWitt; his sister, Joanne Almanzi of Syracuse; his dog, Gracee; and parrot, Quigley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 am at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. The Mass will be live streamed on the church website at https://vimeo.com/517836423 Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. CDC and NYS guidelines will be followed. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital, 90 Crittenden Blvd, Rochester, NY 14642, in appreciation for all the kindness shown to Tony and his family from Unit CC6.
