Obituary of Ann Melvin

Ann Ross Melvin, 88 years old, of Liverpool, New York, passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2021. She was born on January 13, 1933 to Norman and Lois Ross in Anderson, Indiana. They moved to Syracuse in 1936. Ann attended Goodyear Burlingame School in Syracuse, and the Emma Willard School in Troy, N.Y. She graduated from Syracuse University where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. After graduating college, Ann worked as an Interior Decorator at E. W. Edwards and Son. She married Merle Melvin in 1961, had three children, and lived in the town of Clay, and then moved to the town of Manlius in 1973. She was always supportive of her children in their various activities throughout schooling. In 2014, Ann and Merle divorced. Ann served on the board of the Crouse Irving Memorial Auxiliary for five years as a liaison for the gift shop. She volunteered at the hospital gift shop for 27 years. She also volunteered at The Bear Paw, a quilting nonprofit store. Ann was an avid gardener, and she loved to golf. She was also an active member of DeWitt Community Church. Ann was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Ann Melvin Taylor (2003), her son Ross Melvin (2018), and her brother Norman Ross II. She is survived by her son John, 4 nephews and 2 nieces, and her four grand-sons Dean, Ian, Luke, and Ryan. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Syracuse Stage (315/443-3931) or to the Southern Poverty Law Center ( Arrangements are with Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
